Known throughout St. Tammany Parish, Muriel Dauterive is a resident of Madisonville, LA.  She is a retired nurse who has pursued instruction from other artists, but is basically a self-taught artist.  Her background includes landscapes, still life, portraits and even some plein air painting.  She chooses oils, resulting in a dramatic use of color, form, and intensity.  Her paintings are derived from her travels and created from her use of photography.  Dauterive has several openings being a featured artist throughout St. Tammany, New Orleans, and New Iberia, LA.  She is presently showing at Art and Frames Gallery in Covington, 549 Gallery in Lafayette, and the Kickstand Cafe in Mandeville.
